Global growth markets investor Actis has agreed to sell Compuscan, a South Africa-based credit information and analytics company, to Ireland-based consumer credit agency Experian for ZAR3.72 billion (approximately US$261 million). Actis acquired a majority stake in Compuscan in 2014. The transaction is subject to antimonopoly regulatory approvals. Separately, Actis has acquired an 88 percent stake in Kipeto Energy, the developer of a 100-megawatt wind power project in Kenya’s Kajiado county, from International Finance Corporation (IFC) and African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), a member of Old Mutual Alternative Investments. The project has now reached financial close with equity funding from Actis and Kenya-based developer Craftskills and senior debt from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. Additional financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
