Gavin Anderson, International Counsel, Debevoise & Plimpton
Gavin Anderson is international counsel in the Hong Kong office of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Private Equity Group and Investment Management Group, and focuses his practice on advising sponsors and investors on a variety of investment management issues, and acts for a range of sponsors in their fund formation, co-investment and related activities.
Mr. Anderson’s recent experience includes acting for clients such as Baring Private Equity Asia, CDH Investments, D. E. Shaw, Global Infrastructure Partners, HarbourVest, Morgan Stanley, Navis Capital Partners, Southern Capital and Quilvest.
Prior to joining Debevoise in 2006, Mr. Anderson trained and worked as an associate at an international law firm in London. Mr. Anderson earned his B.A. (Hons) from the University of Oxford (Brasenose College) in 2000 and PgDL from the College of Law at Guildford in 2001. He graduated from the Legal Practice Course at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice in 2002.
Parag Baduni, Partner, IL&FS Investment Managers Limited (IIML)
Parag Baduni. Mr. Baduni is Partner at IL&FS Investment Managers Limited (IIML). Mr. Baduni joined the IL&FS Group in 1999 and has 20 years of experience in project finance and investments. As part of the investment team for the Infrastructure vertical at IIML, he is responsible assessment, monitoring, and crafting exits for investments across infrastructure sub-sectors. He has participated in over 10 transactions across most of infrastructure sub-sectors including Power, Roads, Logistics, Oil & Gas, City Gas Distribution, Agri-warehousing and Waste Management. Apart from the investment experience, he is actively involved in the fund raising process of various infrastructure private equity funds raised by IIML and is responsible for fund management activities across these infrastructure private equity funds, from a portfolio management and investor relations perspective
Ajay Candade, Principal, Private Equity, KKR India Advisors Pvt. Ltd
Ajay Candade (Mumbai) joined KKR in 2015 and is a Principal in KKR’s private equity team. At KKR, he has been involved in investments in TVS Logistics, Magma Fincorp and Avendus Capital. Prior to joining KKR, Mr. Candade was with Warburg Pincus in Mumbai, where he was involved with investments in Alliance Tire Group, Continental Warehousing Corporation Limited, ICICI Bank, Max India and Max Healthcare. Previously, he has worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, in New York and Mumbai. Mr. Candade holds a B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology (I.I.T) Madras, where he graduated as a Governor’s Gold medalist, and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar.
Nishith Desai, Founder, Nishith Desai Associates
Nishith Desai is the founder of the research-based strategy driven international law firm, Nishith Desai Associates with offices in Mumbai, Silicon Valley, Bangalore, Singapore, Mumbai – BKC, New Delhi and Munich.
Nishith himself is a renowned international tax, corporate, IP lawyer researcher, published author and lecturer in leading academic institutions around the world. Soon after India opened up its economy to the outside world in 1991, he established the first five India Focused funds and pioneered the roots of asset management industry and the firm has now worked for over 900 funds across all classes of asset.

Sushma Kaushik, Principal, Aavishkaar
Sushma brings with her over 14 years of diverse experience in the field of early stage investing, small business incubation and financial inclusion. At Aavishkaar, Sushma has worked to identify, manage and exit large number of companies and has worked closely with several inclusive business entrepreneurs. She started off with an entrepreneurial venture in engineering design services and moved on to a role in investments in Real Estate and Hospitality as a part of the acquisition team at Starwood Capital India Advisors. She has extensively evaluated transactions covering debt and equity structures. While at Ashoka-Innovators for the Public, Sushma got to work with social entrepreneurs in the ‘Housing for All’ initiative. She has worked closely on building collaborative partnerships in market based solutions for the low-income populations. Sushma has completed a strategic leadership program at the prestigious Harvard Business School, she is an engineering graduate from RVCE, Bangalore and has an MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
Geoffrey Kittredge, Partner, Debevoise & Plimpton
Geoffrey Kittredge is a corporate partner in the London office of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. Mr. Kittredge’s practice focuses on private equity and investment fund formation.
Mr. Kittredge represents a broad range of international private equity and other private investment funds and their sponsors, including buyout, infrastructure, energy, mezzanine, real estate, secondaries, and venture funds, as well as funds of funds.
Labelled a “private equity ace” by Legal Week, he is ranked as a top-tier lawyer for Investment Funds by Chambers UK and Chambers Europe (2014 and 2015) where he “is widely acknowledged as a pre-eminent figure in the private equity funds world. ‘He’s always available, no matter where he is in the world. His advice is given from a basis of strong knowledge and it is always appropriate and commercial.’”
Mr. Kittredge has been in Europe since 1999 and in London since 2002, where he is Chair of Debevoise’s European Private Equity Funds Group. Mr. Kittredge is a member of the EMPEA Legal & Regulatory Council, and is also a member of the Legal and Technical Committee of the BVCA.
Chirantan Patnaik, Investment Executive, Intermediated Equity (Asia Funds), CDC Group plc
Chirantan is involved in evaluating new investment proposals and monitoring CDC’s portfolio across South Asia with a focus on small and mid-cap funds. Chirantan started his career with ABN AMRO’s M&A division executing cross-border mandates and later joined Babcock & Brown’s Asian Infrastructure Fund team originating investments in wind power and road sector.
Chirantan holds an MBA from London Business School and a Post Graduate Diploma in Securities Law from Government Law College, Mumbai.
Gautham Radhakrishnan, Partner, Tata Opportunities Fund
Gautham Radhakrishnan joined the Tata Opportunities Fund in 2013 from Actis in Mumbai and was previously with Warburg Pincus in London from 2001. His investing and board level experience covers multiple industries, from venture to buyout both in Europe and India. Gautham represents the Tata Opportunities Fund on the Board of Shriram Properties, a leading mid-market housing development company.
Prior to working in private equity, Gautham worked at JP Morgan in London in Fixed Income and Mergers and Acquisitions. He has also worked at the BBC, Cricinfo, and at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.
Gautham graduated with a MBA from INSEAD and also holds a MSc from Imperial College, University of London and a MA from St John’s College, University of Cambridge.
Vikram Raju, Executive Director, Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners
Vikram is a portfolio manager on the Private Market Strategies team and has 19 years of relevant industry experience. Prior to joining the firm, he was a principal investment officer at the International Finance Corporation, World Bank Group, where he led the investment program for climate-related private equity funds across emerging markets. Previously, Vikram was a founding member of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Fund (EMPEF) backed by IDFC Capital in Singapore and an investment manager for emerging markets funds with Northgate Capital in London. Before that, Vikram worked in product strategy and development roles at Citi and Morgan Stanley. Before that he was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company in London and worked with a range of clients including US private equity firms and Indian NGOs. Vikram has also been a portfolio manager with the emerging markets team at Lazard and a foreign exchange dealer with Standard Chartered (fka ANZ Grindlays). Vikram received a B.A. in economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai and an M.S. in finance from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute, Mumbai. He also received master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Richie Sancheti, Head, Funds Formation Practice, Nishith Desai Associates
Richie Sancheti leads the Funds Practice Group at Nishith Desai Associates and is based in Mumbai. With a strong funds background, Richie advises on optimum structures for setting up onshore and offshore investment funds. He advises fund managers in connection with the formation, carry allocation program and governance of private funds. Richie is a frequent speaker at domestic and international conferences on private equity including the Indian Venture Capital Association, PERE Summit, etc.
Richie specializes in all aspects of the formation and operation of venture capital, private equity and hedge funds that are focused on investing in India. He has extensive experience in designing fund structures and advising on “market” terms. Richie is also a member of the firm’s international tax and private equity investment practice groups and advises clients on matters including private equity transactions.
Jeff Schlapinski, Director of Research, EMPEA
Jeff Schlapinski is the Director of Research at EMPEA, where he leads a team producing industry data, analysis and in-depth reporting on private equity, private credit, infrastructure and real assets investing in emerging economies. In addition to providing quarterly market intelligence to EMPEA’s members, Jeff manages EMPEA’s annual Global Limited Partners Survey and is a regular author of EMPEA special reports and research briefs. He also interacts frequently with the media, fund managers, institutional investors and industry advisors in order to fulfill EMPEA’s broader mission of informing the investment community on the private capital opportunity set in emerging markets. Jeff graduated from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) at Georgetown University in 2010 with a B.S. in International Economics.
Mansi Seth, Head, US Office, Nishith Desai Associates
Mansi Seth heads Nishith Desai Associates’ practice in the US and is based out of New York. With expertise in international tax, Mansi focuses on cross-border corporate tax planning, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and venture capital investments and globalization.
Mansi also leads the Fund Formation practice at Nishith Desai Associates in the US. She advises on structuring India-focused offshore and domestic private equity, venture capital and hedge funds. Mansi has assisted fund managers with formation, regulation and carried interest structuring issues.
Mansi is qualified to practice law in India and New York and received her Master of Laws degree in Taxation from Georgetown University in Washington DC. She regularly presents in international conferences and has been the recipient of the Tax Section scholarship of the International Bar Association.
Rajat Tandon, President, IVCA
Rajat Tandon is the President of IVCA. He was earlier part of the leadership team at NASSCOM, the Indian IT and ITES/BPO body. As Vice President, he lead NASSCOM’s 10,000 Startups initiative, supporting technology startups in India. He is very passionate about creating value for entrepreneurs, funding partners and the ecosystem. Rajat has had an early stint as an entrepreneur and an extensive corporate experience in the IT & Telecom and Location services. Over the past 25 years, Rajat has worked in various positions, ranging from technical support, sales leadership, service delivery to strategic initiatives at Siemens, Nortel, Nokia (NAVTEQ). In the startups sector, Rajat is extensively networked, having worked with most leaders in the industry. His knowledge of the industry, its constituents, successes, opportunities and challenges is high. He is also deeply connected with the ecosystem around the industry. Rajat is a Post Graduate Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, underpinned by a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Pune University.
