Blackstone to Acquire a Majority Stake in India-based Mphasis (Asia)

Global investment firm Blackstone will acquire a majority stake in India-based information technology (IT) outsourcing services provider Mphasis. As part of the deal, United States-based IT company Hewlett Packard Enterprises (HPE), will sell at least 84 percent of its total 60.5 percent holding in Mphasis to Blackstone. Blackstone has also made an open offer to buy a 26 percent stake in the company from public shareholders. Depending on the response to the open offer, HPE’s portion of the sale could be valued at as much as US$825 million, while the total transaction value for Blackstone could be as much as US$1.1 billion. The transaction is expected to close in coming months.
