Brookfield to Acquire East West Pipeline for USD1.9 Billion

India Infrastructure Trust, an investment vehicle 90 percent-owned by global alternative investment firm Brookfield Asset Management, has agreed to acquire the East West Pipeline from India-based conglomerate Reliance Industries for INR130 billion (approximately USD1.9 billion). As part of the agreement, Reliance will participate in a portion of the net earnings of the Pipeline, retain convertible preference shares valued at INR40 billion (approximately USD574 million), and hold the right to acquire the Trust’s equity shares at a value of INR50 (USD0.71) per share at the end of the 20-year agreement.
