Capital International Private Equity Funds (CIPEF), a U.S.-based emerging market fund manager, has announced the final close of Capital International Private Equity Fund VI (CIPEF VI) at its hard cap of US$3 billion. Citing EMPEA data, CIPEF declared Fund VI the largest global emerging markets private equity fund to have closed in the last five years. CIPEF VI, which exceeded its target of US$2.5 billion and attracted commitments from over 60 major institutional investors, will target 15-20 investments with a priority on 16 emerging market countries. CIPEF has already committed roughly 20 percent of the fund’s capital to investments in Eaton Towers, a pan-African telecom infrastructure developer, and L&T Financial Holdings of India.
