Energy and infrastructure private equity fund manager Equis Funds Group has raised US$1.3 billion for two funds, reaching a close on Equis Asia Fund II with US$1 billion in capital commitments and a close on Equis Direct Investment Fund—a follow-on vehicle to Fund I—with US$300 million in commitments. Investors also committed an additional US$400 million to two existing Equis portfolio companies, Japan-based solar energy company Japan Solar and India-based wind generation company Energon, under Fund I. Equis has already closed three investments from Fund II: a follow-on investment in Japan Solar; an investment in India-based infrastructure manager InfraEdge; and a commitment to Asian hydro power developer Hydreq.
