Lending Pullback Fuels Private-Credit Jump in Emerging Markets

Private credit deals are picking up again in emerging markets as companies seek more flexible, longer-term financing in an uncertain economic environment, according to the Global Private Capital Association.
Private credit investments rose 13% in the first half of this year from the previous six months, with $4 billion of capital invested, according to data from the New York and Singapore-based club of private capital investors active in emerging markets. That was up from about $3.5 billion in the second half of last year, but below the $6.8 billion of deals in the first half of 2022. Read more.
